See What Happens When You Play with Barbie (31 May to 16 June)
In celebration of the iconic fashion doll, a host of unique Barbie-themed activities will take centre-stage. This includes a showcase of Barbie’s prettiest outfits and accessories, Barbie Meet & Greet sessions, as well as an opportunity for the little girls to live out their dream world dressed as the iconic Barbie at the Barbie Makeover and Photoshoot, where they’ll get to take home a complimentary 4R photo for keepsake! In addition, children can also have some creative fun at the Barbie DIY corner through a series of arts and crafts activities!
As for the boys, they will get to have fun on a five-metre long ‘Hot Wheels’ race at Central Court B, VivoCity Level 1. Three chances to race on the track will be given for every purchase of two ‘Hot Wheels’ basic cars, where timings will be recorded and the top three fastest racers receive a ‘Hot Wheels’ hamper!
Parents World Junior Chef Competition 2013 (19 to 21 July)
In conjunction with the Singapore Food Festival, VivoCity will be collaborating with Parents World magazine to organise the ‘Junior Chef’ Competition 2013 for children aged 5 to 12 years old.
Categorised into two age-groups, 5 to 8 year olds will get to demonstrate their budding creativity through the Cake Decoration competition, while 9 to 12 year olds will whip up mouth-watering sweet delights in the Dessert Making category – with winners walking away with a range of attractive prizes!
Prior to the competition, a series of cooking workshops will also be held from 22 to 30 June at ARC (Alexandra Retail Centre), where children can enjoy exclusive training sessions by renowned chefs.
Creatively Thai 2013 (19 to 23 June)
Returning for the seventh year running and in partnership with the Thai Trade Centre, Creatively Thai 2013 showcases the latest creative inspirations from 39 leading Thai fashion designers, with a “Queen of Thai Silk” opening ceremony featuring stylish Asian-oriental silk collections by 10 prominent Thai designers kicking-off the event.
This year, a special ‘Siam Fashion Terminal’ will turn heads at the atrium with two showcases – domestic and international, spotlighting the very best in unique designs made from materials created in Thailand, and more metropolitan collections inspired by the latest in global fashion trends respectively. In addition, do not miss out the special appearances by the stunning Miss Supranational Thailand 2012, during the fashion shows!
National Youth EnvirOlympics Challenge 2013 (1 June)
The NYEC, which seeks to educate both youths and the public on promoting a clean and healthy environment in Singapore, will also hold its highlight En-Art event at VivoCity this year. With a theme of youths inspiring other youths – four unique component activities, namely My Dream Home (colouring contest), My Tiny Garden (terrarium building), the “Walk-it-Green” Fashion Parade (fashion show using recycled material) and the RE-ACT Concert (music concert by local YouTube artists), will be held to promote environmental consciousness through works of art produced by local youths.
Into its fifth year, the NYEC which is jointly organised by Ci Yuan Community Centre’s Youth Executive Committee and the Youth EnvirOlympics Council with the support of the National Environment Agency will be graced by Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources as the Guest-of-Honour for the event.
