Usher in the Mid-Autumn Festival with a Record-Breaking Event at VivoCity
VivoCity attempts to set another Singapore record with “The Most Number of Signatures on a Lantern” as part of its celebrations for the annual festival
03 August 2011, Singapore – Singapore’s largest lifestyle and retail destination, VivoCity, will celebrate its fifth Mid-Autumn Festival from 12 August to 12 September with a delightful range of activities for shoppers and visitors that will culminate in a record-breaking event. Since 2007, VivoCity has commemorated the popular annual festival with an entry into the Singapore Book of Records and this year, VivoCity will attempt to set a new record for “The Most Number of Signatures on a Lantern” on 10 September.
“The Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional family event full of joy and colour where families celebrate by sampling different flavoured mooncakes and lighting up the night with beautiful lantern creations,” said Mr Chang Yeng Cheong, General Manager of VivoCity. “At VivoCity, we take the celebrations up a notch by not just rewarding our shoppers with a feast of delectable mooncake deals but also by creating an unrivalled celebration with our signature record-breaking feat.”
Record-Breaking Event Mechanics
For this year’s record-breaking feat, VivoCity hopes to gather as many signatures from its valued shoppers to help create a new Singapore record for The Most Number of Signatures on a Lantern. The giant lantern measuring 3m in height and 1.5m in breadth will be lit to mark the momentous occasion and illuminate the Sky Park beneath the full moon of the Mid-autumn till 12 September.
The event will be held on 10 September, 6pm at the Amphitheatre, Level 3. Shoppers are encouraged to be part of this meaningful event to celebrate the time-honoured tradition by registering their interest at any of the Customer Service Counters at VivoCity from 12 August to 10 September.
The first 1,500 participants with an entry pass will receive complimentary goodie bags filled with attractive shopping vouchers and a unique lantern on the day of the event. They will also be treated to a variety of entertaining performances and games. On top of that, participants will get a chance to win attractive prizes worth more than S$15,000 at the event by participating in a lucky draw with their entry passes.
To sweeten the celebrations, the TANGS Mid-Autumn Fair returns for the fourth year taking centrestage at Central Court on Level 1 from 24 August to 12 September, offering a wide assortment of traditional and unique-flavoured mooncakes, festive savouries and colourful lanterns to suit all palettes and preferences.
VivoCity will also be rewarding shoppers with complimentary boxes of mooncakes from 15 to 26 August 2011. Shoppers with a minimum spending of $150 (maximum of 3 combined same-day receipts) during the period will be eligible to redeem a box of mooncakes from Bosses. OCBC Credit/Debit Cardmembers only need to charge $100 to qualify. Redemption of the mooncakes is limited to the first 50 shoppers per day from Monday to Friday on a first-come, first-served and while stocks last basis.
To bring the festivities onto a digital platform, VivoCity will be organising an online contest from 12 August to 12 September on its website (www.vivocity.com.sg). Each week, there will be a new set of challenge and two participants per week will stand a chance to win $500 worth of OSIM vouchers each.
