Over 300,000 visitors in first weekend of operation
9 October 2006, Singapore - In one of the most anticipated openings in recent history, VivoCity attracted over 300,000 visitors in its first weekend of operation. Some 168,000 people visited the multi-experiential retail & lifestyle destination on Saturday, while another 157,000 people came on Sunday.
"The response to VivoCity’s first weekend of operations exceeded even our own expectations," says Wendy Low, General Manager of VivoCity. "This is only a soft opening and there is already an excited buzz about VivoCity. As more stores continue to open up over the coming weeks leading up to our Grand Opening on 1 December, we hope that people will continue to come to VivoCity as there are still lots to see and experience."
New outlets opening this week include 3-in-1 destination shopping megastore, VivoMart - incorporating the biggest Giant Hypermarket in Singapore, a new concept called naturally marketplace by cold storage and a Guardian Health & Beauty Store; fashion brands Bebe, Nautica, Ted Baker, Zara, Pull & Bear, Adidas, and Gap; and dining experiences through Crystal Jade Dining IN, Kopitiam/Banquet and Food Republic.
VivoCity is accessible through all modes of transport. It is connected to the HarbourFront MRT station via the North-East Line. Numerous bus services travel to and from the destination, including service numbers 10, 30, 30e, 57, 65, 80, 97, 97e, 100, 131, 143, 145, 166, 409. Parking is also a breeze with over 2,100 parking spaces available in the VivoCity carpark alone.
